Compare travel eSIM plans without leaving your AI assistant

esim-mcp connects Claude, Cursor and any other Model Context Protocol client to live CheapereSIM pricing. Ask a question in plain language and get real plans, real prices, and a link to buy.

What it does

An MCP server is a small program your AI assistant runs on your own machine so it can look things up for you. This one searches eSIM data plans across 190+ destinations, lists prices for any country, and works out the cheapest way to stay connected on a trip that crosses several borders.

The interesting part is the multi-country comparison. A regional eSIM covering your whole route is sometimes cheaper than buying a local plan in each country, and sometimes it is not. The server prices both and tells you which one wins, so you are not guessing.

Install it in 30 seconds

Add this to your MCP client configuration, then restart the client:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "esim": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "esim-mcp"]
    }
  }
}
  • No account, no API key and no configuration are required to search plans.
  • Works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol.
  • Needs Node.js 20 or newer, which most developer machines already have.

What you can ask

“What is the cheapest eSIM for Japan?”

“I am travelling to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan for three weeks. What should I buy?”

“Is there a single eSIM that covers all of Southeast Asia?”

“Which countries does that regional plan actually cover?”

“Show me unlimited data eSIM plans for Turkey.”

“How much data is left on my eSIM?”

What it can do

Seven tools, five of which need no account at all.

search_destinations Find the countries we sell eSIM plans for.
list_plans List every plan for one country, cheapest first.
plan_trip Compare a regional plan against local plans across a multi-country trip.
get_plan_coverage Show every country a regional or global plan covers.
list_popular_destinations List the destinations travellers buy most often.
list_my_esims List the eSIMs on your account, with status and expiry.
get_esim_usage Check how much data is left on an eSIM.

The last two read your own account and need an API token, which you can create in your dashboard. Tokens are read-only: they cannot buy a plan, change your profile, or delete your account.

Free, open source, and yours to read
